SANTA CRUZ, Calif., Dec. 13 (UPI) -- A man on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Terrorist list, accused of animal rights bombings in 2003, was seen recently in the Santa Cruz, Calif., area, the FBI said.
Daniel Andreas San Diego, 35, originally from Berkeley, was spotted in Santa Cruz, FBI spokesman Peter Lee said, warning residents San Diego has carried a handgun in the past and should be considered armed and dangerous.
San Diego is suspected of bombing Chiron Corp., an Emeryville biotechnology firm, and twice bombing Shaklee Corp., a nutrition and cosmetics company in Pleasanton. The explosions, which include packs of nails, caused minor damage and no injuries, the (Santa Cruz) Sentinel reported Friday.
He has ties to the animal rights extremist groups, the FBI said, noting a reward of up to $250,000 is available for information leading to his capture.
The newspaper added authorities have said his alleged actions have been an example to others, citing the 2009 firebombing of a university scientist's car, and separate bombing of a scientist's home, in 2009.
